Khalilah Denney is a Bay Wise certified Master Gardener with the University of Maryland Extension program. She has been gardening for over 20 years and has received several awards for her advocacy work in environmental stewardship. She is founder of The Denney House and through its Project Clean Water initiative, she has developed innovative programs connecting youth to the environment through community gardens, beautification projects and community clean ups throughout Prince George’s County. Mrs. Denney speaks at area churches and schools on environmental stewardship and justice. This work has earned her a Community Partnership Award from the Office of the Prince Georges County Executive as well as the Prince George’s County Department of the Environment deeming her a Hometown Hero.
Elder Gwendolyn Gantt serves as the Community Outreach Director and Special Events Coordinator at St. Stephen Baptist Church in Temple Hills, Maryland under the Leadership of Bishop Lanier C. Twyman Sr., Senior Pastor. She also serves as the Outreach Director for Project Bright Future Mentoring Inc. Program. Over the years, Elder Gantt has served in many ministries at St. Stephen Baptist Church and now provides oversight for several ministries including Prison Ministry, Surrender to Win, Grandma Closet, Mercy House domestic violence programs, Trinity Terrace Apartments, Henson Creek Assisted Living and Chevelle Assisted Living. She has supported our mission through projects tree plantings through our Trees For Sacred Places program and has a beautiful native plant garden!
