Truly a Unity Tree!
It truly was a day of peace and a celebration of healing at the Unity Tree Planting in Lancaster on June 6th. IPC was blessed to have Rev. John Knight, from Bright Side Baptist Church who remarked on how, even in a country that is seemingly so divided, communities of faith can come together through our love for creation to do such healing work as planting trees. Ray D'Agostino, Lancaster County Commissioner (R) spoke about how important it is to have congregations doing work that focuses on stream health and how vital clean water is to our environment and communities. Additionally, we heard from Phil Wenger, President of Lancaster Conservancy that spearheads Lancaster's Water Week. A huge thank you goes out to the 17 congregations (see list below) that participated in IPC's Trees of Peace that resulted in the planting of over 120 trees throughout Lancaster, as well as our dedicated Lancaster Task Force, and program partners Sacred Grounds/Lancaster Conservancy, Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay, Chesapeake Bay Foundation, and Lancaster Clean Water Partners who all made this such a successful project.
