As people of faith, caring for our bodies and our world is a sacred responsibility. This powerful film challenges churches and congregations to lead by example, transforming our daily stewardship by reducing plastic consumption and adopting plastic-free alternatives as an act of worship.

Guest Speakers:

Kelly Doordan brings deep experience in the place where science, policy and advocacy meet.  A biologist by training, Kelly also holds a Masters Degree in Environmental Science and a Law Degree from Indiana University. Most recently, she chaired the environmental impact working group of the Montgomery County Food Council. Kelly's passion for reducing trash and litter shows itself throughout the arc of her career from her work with the East Silver Spring Elementary School Green Team as part of the PTA to her work for EPA Region 9 on the west coast where Kelly served as a Tribal Solid Waste Team Leader and Tribal Liaison in EPA's Office of Pollution Prevention and Solid Waste.  

Chris Williams is President and CEO of the Anacostia Watershed Society. Prior to joining AWS in 2021, Chris served as Senior Vice President for Conservation at American Rivers and before that as Director of Freshwater Programs at World Wildlife Fund, leading river and watershed conservation programs across the U.S. and around the world. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Washington and a J.D. and Masters of Environmental Law and Policy from the Vermont Law School.

Hyattsville Mennonite Church Creation Care Team will share with folks actions they have taken on to take care of their grounds and some recent planting native plantings. Folks also take on actions such as recycling and reducing use of fossil fuels and water; avoidance of factory-farmed meats; and also donate to organizations that work to preserve natural systems.

These webinars are supplemental to IPC's Faithful Green Leaders Training Program and are free and open to all.
