Guest Speakers:
Roman Orona is Apache, Pueblo, and Yaqui. Roman has worked in the environmental field for over 16 years. Roman, currently is the Environmental Programs Manager for the Ak-Chin Indian Community in Maricopa, AZ and the US EPA Region 9 RTOC Tribal Chair. Prior to that, he served as the Environmental Engineer with the Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian Community-Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Department in Scottsdale AZ and as the Deputy Director and Director of Operations of Earth Conservation Corps-Salmon Corps in Portland, Oregon. Roman has a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology, Civil Engineering and a Master’s in Arts, Culture, and Technology. Roman is also a Native American performer (dancer, singer, flutist), producer, director and owner of iamHUMAN Media. iamHUMAN Media is a national non-profit that develops programs to address social discourse, create community and unite humanity through the arts. In 2016, Roman was awarded the Best Male Vocalist Award at the Native American Music Awards for his album “Circling Spirits.” Roman works to illustrate all individuals are related through the common thread of humanity. In being human, Roman says, “We all have a responsibility to each other, for each other, for the betterment of all humankind."

Kolya Braun-Greiner is an active ordained member and teacher at the ecumenical Seekers Church in Washington, DC where she participates in the Earth & Spirit Mission group. She has a long history of engaged action for social and environmental justice, including solidarity with Native American land rights with the American Indian Movement and the International Indian Treaty Council. More recently she retired from Interfaith Partners for the Chesapeake as Program Coordinator, where she created curricula, facilitated webinars, designed and led Green Team Trainings to foster ecological literacy, and developed faith inspired responses to climate change and environmental degradation. She draws from a deep well of seminary (Union Theological, NYC, ’92) and environmental education (as a Master Naturalist) to facilitate groups in spiritual resilience for a life-sustaining future. She co-taught a 6 week class at Seekers Church on Dismantling the Doctrine of Discovery. She is also writing a book about practicing contemplation of nature and taking healing action with environmental justice for all life upon Earth, inspired by the reverence we can experience when we attend to the exquisite web of life.
