Maddie Smith serves as Interfaith Power & Light
(DC.MD.NoVA)'s Clean Energy Shepherd, supporting the region's houses of worship to go solar and complete energy upgrades to save energy and money. IPL-DMV's Clean Energy Shepherd program faithfully "shepherds" congregations through the solar and energy project process, supporting faith communities every step of the way. This year, IPL-DMV congregations are adding more than 1 megawatt of solar to the grid as a direct result of support through our Clean Energy Shepherd program.
Tiffani Lawson brings a wealth of expertise in youth and community development, community engagement, and outreach to her role as the Director of Community Engagement at Groundswell. With over 15 years of dedicated service in the nonprofit youth development sector, Tiffani is committed to fostering safe and equitable spaces for socioeconomically disadvantaged youth and communities.
Her contributions span community engagement and outreach, program management, program development, and youth development across vibrant cities such as Houston and New York City, covering neighborhoods like Washington Heights, the Bronx, and Brooklyn.
Saint Bartholomew's Episcopal Church in Baltimore, MD will be sharing a very
exciting project and leading by example after receiving $145,640 in grant funds to replace its oil-fired boiler with a high-efficiency geothermal heat pump system. This investment will eliminate on-site greenhouse gas emissions, improve energy efficiency in their 110-year-old building, and reduce long-term operational costs — demonstrating how congregations can faithfully steward both creation and their resources.
