Do you want to inspire creation care at your congregation?

Interfaith Partners for the Chesapeake (IPC) has now helped more than 170 congregations form their own Green Team in an effort to expand Creation Care across the Chesapeake Bay watershed. With hundreds of actions taken on behalf of the Bay so far, we feel confident that Green Teams that are well-equipped can lead their communities in raising awareness and restoring the waters of the Chesapeake region.

What is the Faithful Green Leaders Training?

Our FREE special 3-part training is geared to give congregations the tools and support to launch a thriving Green Team! Alongside inspiring guest speakers and IPC staff, participants will learn the necessary skills to grow and strengthen a lasting team. Additionally, teams will be supported by IPC regional staff to help you learn more about the actions and impact you might be able to have through your congregation and surrounding communities.

The next 3-part training will be held via Zoom from 7 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. on the following dates:

Section 1: Thursday, October 12th
Section 2: Thursday, October 19th
Section 3: Thursday, October 26th

**All attendees are strongly encouraged to come with at least 2 other people from their congregation. Check out our team building resources and reach out if you need help!

Wondering what our Green Teams have done?

Meet Saint Thomas' Episcopal Church in Baltimore County, MD! After completing Faithful Green Leaders Training in the spring of 2020, this congregation was able to recruit 12 people to join their team (during a pandemic! -- finding safe space in the outdoors).

With support from IPC, our technical partners, and the congregations’ leadership; this team was able to identify several environmentally-conscious actions they could take right on their own property to engage their members and bolster the value and productivity of there green spaces. To date, they have now reforested over 2 acres of land on their grounds with native species, and amplified the garden space in front of their church to incorporate species to support our native pollinators. The work continues for this determined team, who have just applied for additional funding (2023) to install a water-retaining cistern and to plant even more trees.

We are so proud of this team, and of our other 170+ teams who are ALL rising to the challenge of Creation Care in their own unique ways. Will you join this movement? See you in October at Faithful Green Leaders Training!
