Susan Parker
Program Assistant

Susan grew up in Salisbury and had a short career as a clinical lab tech (7 years) before getting serious about a family and operating a home-based daycare for a few years. Eventually she worked for her hometown newspaper for 28 years, during which she held the following positions in the newsroom: data entry; youth editor, special sections editor, copy editor and ultimately editorial page editor, with final couple of years adding beat reporter to her responsibilities. Since taking early retirement in 2019, Susan has held one part-time position at a local senior center in the community relations office that ended with the arrival of COVID and complete shutdown of most senior programs. She was invited to take on an AmeriCorps position with Wicomico Environmental Trust in late September 2020. She is primarily the coordinator for the Wicomico River Creekwatchers program through WET, and as her AmeriCorps position wound down to a close, she was informed that she would be transitioning to a part time position with WET. She is excited about the opportunity to add a part-time position with IPC as a Program Assistant, while maintaining her work with Creekwatchers.
