Speaking Out for Our Common Home
2026 Legislative Briefing

Our Maryland communities of faith have a moral imperative as well as a powerful opportunity to speak out for our neighbors and our common home in Annapolis in the 2026 legislative session, which will run from January to April. Join Interfaith Partners for the ChesapeakeInterfaith Power & Light (MD.DC.NoVA), and grassroots partners to prepare your congregation to raise your voices.

We’ll discuss legislation that seeks:

  • To reduce litter and increase recycling of beverage containers (Bottle Bill)

  • To strengthen the environmental justice protections considered during permit process for new and existing polluters (CHERISH Act)

  • To bring real wisdom (not artificial intelligence!) to the pollution that data centers may impose on Maryland, and insist any data centers be good neighbors in our communities

  • To strengthen and advance solar energy in Maryland

This event is especially for Maryland faith communities and congregations. Learn how your community can advocate for legislation that promotes clean water, clean air, and environmental justice. Participants will hear from issue experts about priority legislation, why it’s important for Maryland, and how, as people of faith, we can be advocates from a moral and religious perspective.
