Shaare Torah is located in Gaithersburg, MD in the Muddy Branch watershed. The Green Team has been active for more than 5 years and has led efforts to increase recycling, remove single use plastics from use in synagogue activities, clean and plant trees along the Muddy Branch Greenway, organize educational programs, and facilitate the purchase of electricity from renewable sources. One of the Team's most successful projects was hosting a zero landfill waste Tu B'shvat Kiddush. The synagogue continues to work with the Muddy Branch Alliance to maintain and protect the local watershed.
