Faith Community Comes Together To Open Salisbury's 1st Ever GreenFest!

There is a saying that God smiles when congregations work together.  If that is the case, God must have been beaming as the City of Salisbury, MD opened their 1st ever Green Fest celebration with a blessing on Saturday, May 18th.

Representatives from local Native American, Muslim, Christian, and Unitarian Universalist communities all came together to offer a shared giving of thanks for the many gifts the river has bestowed upon the town and to bless the river as the community works to restore its health.  Following the blessing, members of the local Accohannock Native American tribe performed a smoke smudge ceremony and invited the public to participate.  Well over 50 people took part!

Interfaith Partners for the Chesapeake was honored to play a role in helping to organize the event in partnership with the Wicomico Interfaith Partners for Creation Stewardship and Wicomico Environmental Trust.   IPC will be working with these partners to bring more events to the Salisbury area as the One Water Partnership expands into the region.
