“Rooted in resilience and faith”

~ Meenal Harankhedkar, Executive Director, IPC

Reflection is a powerful tool for growth. As the year 2025 unfolded, resiliency was a bare necessity for many nonprofits. The need to stay grounded was profound and one of the most powerful ways to stay grounded under seasons of change, is to find respite in faith and nature.

Reflecting on 2025, I am happy to share with you that at Interfaith Partners for the Chesapeake (IPC), we remained grounded in our values and we grew even more resilient during the transient times. We found our respite in faith and nature. Faith is one of the most powerful ways to stay grounded during a change and Creation teaches us resiliency. Working hands-on with faith communities, bringing them resources and tools daily to restore and protect Creation, we have learned to be resilient and grounded, similar to roots of a tree.

Trees teach us resiliency with their deep roots. In many traditions, trees offer a reminder of lessons in endurance, offering solace and reminder of resiliency. Plant research shows that resistance is needed to foster deep roots for trees. Strong winds play a crucial role in strengthening trees by making them flexible and resilient. This principle extends to human life and faith. Many faith traditions teach us that hard seasons in life, often unexpected, can teach us to be more resilient and grow in greater ways. Storms are beneficial processes that help reflect, refine and strengthen our roots and challenges are vital to develop resiliency for survival.

Challenges serve to authenticate faith, deepen spiritual roots, and prepare us to withstand change. At IPC, this year we leaned in on each other's inner strengths, to regroup, connect and find a solid common ground to build a roadmap for our new 2026-2028 Strategic plan. Driven by an ethical responsibility to care for Creation and to be the true connector for faith communities, IPC is even more ready to be resilient to help faith communities thrive and restore ecosystems.

As we celebrate our 15th Anniversary in 2025, we are reassured that combined successes comes from having a resilient organization that not just survives the storms, but one that thrives in the face of adversity. By focusing on long term planning, internal strengths and committing ourselves to building stronger and deeper relationships with each other, our faith communities and partners, we embraced the transient nature of 2025 with grace and we are ready to find more combined success in 2026 and beyond!

During testing times, finding respite under trees, is my connection to faith. Find your resiliency by connecting with Creation.  Wandering and immersing in nature, allows one to bathe in the wonder and beauty of Creation. One deep breath under the canopy of Oaks and Firs, can calm our senses down instantly. As you wander in nature and breath deeply, allow your walk to bathe you in the wonder of Creation. The transiency in nature will help you find resiliency and also give respite. We wish you a peaceful and even more resilient 2026. Reflect, refresh and restore!
