Making the Case for Renewable Energy
For many in our communities, it is no longer news that climate change is resulting in global warming and sea level rise in the Chesapeake Bay, Atlantic Ocean and other waters, is causing flooding and extreme storms. It is also evident that our choices in the types of energy we consume play a big role in this state of affairs. It's time for us to make a move away from fossil fuel based sources of energy!
Over the years we have seen how many regions across the United States have begun to make this transition, and they are finding this shift economically viable.
The good news is that we have a number of great renewable energy options:
Wind Power | Geothermal Power |
Solar Power | Hydropower |
And there are several other benefits to shifting towards renewable energy:
- Reduced carbon emissions and air pollution from energy production
- Enhanced reliability, security, and resilience of the power grid
- Job creation through the increased production and manufacturing of renewable energy technologies
- Increased U.S. independence
- Lower energy costs
- Expanded energy access for remote, coastal, or isolated communities.
