The Islamic Community Center of Potomac aims to provide a sacred space to worship, learn, and contemplate in an open and inviting atmosphere. They offer a variety of educational and community programs to bring people together in the spirit of gaining knowledge, serving others and bettering themselves, with the aim to better society as a whole. Islamic Community Center of Potomac has an active green team trained by Interfaith Partners for the Chesapeake

The Islamic Community Center of Potomac’s Green Team seeks to promote environmental stewardship through education, advocacy, and action. They strive to inspire their local community to adopt sustainable practices and reduce its environmental impact, while recognizing the moral responsibility they have as Muslims to care for the earth and its inhabitants. By integrating their faith and environmental values, the Islamic Community Center of Potomac Green Team aims to create a more just and sustainable future for all.

Through an educational and behavioral change campaign, ‘Ramadan Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle’ the Green Team is striving to reduce the community’s consumption of single-use plastic water bottles and increase awareness about composting. They only offer compostable table ware at community Iftars. They have also partnered with the County and non-profit organizations to host community events that focus on Creation Care.
