Homewood Friends Meeting is in the Jones Falls watershed in Baltimore City on a landlocked site with little space to reduce their stormwater impact. Nevertheless, they secured roughly $8,000 in grant funds to install two (2) cisterns to capture over 500 gallons of stormwater runoff, and to install conservation landscaping. A group of volunteers from their community as well as from Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church helped install the conservation landscaping sandwiched between their building and their sidewalk. Over the years, this vibrant green team has hosted at least four movie nights showing environmental documentaries, hosted a nature walk in their community, and hosted an electronics recycling event. They also have solar panels and in 2020 they added 26 additional panels. They now have a total of 52 panels which will meet 120% of their energy needs. For more information on this congregation, click here
