Join Empowering Believers Church (EBC) of the Apostolic Faith to restore several rain gardens by planting/installing almost 1,500 native plants. Please help this historic African American Congregation by volunteering to lend a hand and get the plants in the ground!

Chief Apostle Larry Lee Thomas Sr. and EBC's EDEN Ministry (https://www.facebook.com/EBCWeAllIn) have partnered with Watershed Stewards Academy on this project, which is being funded by grants from the Chesapeake Bay Trust and Unity Gardens.

New development resulted in large amounts of stormwater flowing onto Empowering Believers property, and in recent years, they have experienced severe flooding and drainage issues. This replanting effort will infuse their Rain Gardens with new life, providing habitat for pollinators, beautifying the grounds, and supporting a broader vision of ensuring that projects successfully manage stormwater.

Please come and join!

When? Saturday, October 9, 2021 - - - 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM

Where? Empowering Believers Church! 7566 East Howard Road, Glen Burnie, MD, 21060 (map)

[At Left] Empowering Believers Church can be seen here submerged under 2 FEET of water after a significant storm came through the area. A single 2-inch storm like this one can see more than 54,000 gallons of rain fall per acre! That's nearly 250 TONS of water per acre of land!

The way we change the landscape around us for our roadways, homes, and even yards can have dire consequences for those down hill. It's time to do our part in controlling stormwater, and take action on behalf of those who live down stream!

"Do unto those downstream, as you would have those upstream do unto you."
- Wendel Berry (American novelist, poet, environmental activist, and farmer.)
