Speaking Out for
Our Common Home
2025 Legislative Briefing

Our Maryland communities of faith have a moral imperative as well as a powerful opportunity to speak out for our neighbors and our common home in Annapolis during the 2025 legislative session, which will run from January to April. Join Interfaith Partners for the Chesapeake, Interfaith Power & Light (MD.DC.NoVA), and grassroots partners to prepare your congregation to raise your voices.

We’ll discuss our main legislative priorities for this year that seek:

  • To reduce litter and increase recycling of beverage containers (Maryland Bottle Bill)
  • To strengthen the environmental justice protections considered during permit process for new and existing polluters (CHERISH Act)
  • To move our buildings off of fossil fuels and onto cleaner power (Better Buildings Act & more)

Join us to hear from Maryland legislators and advocates to learn how your community can advocate for legislation that promotes clean water, clean air, and climate change initiatives. The speakers and advocates are issue experts about priority legislation, why these priorities are important for Maryland, and how, as people of faith, we can be advocates from a moral and religious perspective.
