The grounds of St. Francis have 7 rain gardens, or micro-bioretentions.  This means that stormwater runoff from their entire campus is being treated to prevent stormwater pollution from impacting their downstream neighbors, and to protect the drinking water supply in Loch Raven Reservoir.

They host an apiary, community garden, and orchard with a bumper crop of raspberries as well.  They also have an increasingly large and diverse variety of native plants.  Lastly, they are a "Good News Garden" in the Episcopal Church, a movement for transformational agrarian ministry.
