St. Vincent de Paul Catholic church is located in the Jones Falls watershed in Baltimore. They have a long-standing green team and have taken on complicated projects to reduce stormwater pollution emanating from their grounds, including installing three (!!) bioretention practices to handle runoff from their large parking lot. This was partially underwritten by a $100,000+ grant from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, which IPC and Blue Water Baltimore helped St. Vincent de Paul secure. In fact, staff at the Foundation indicated that when they awarded the St. Vincent de Paul grant it was the first grant issued by them directly to a congregation in the Chesapeake that they could remember. They have also led trash cleanups, tree give-aways and tree plantings, conducted an oyster bed cleaning and led IPC's "God Water Heroes" Vacation Bible School program at their church one summer. They also offer educational programs for their community throughout the year, such as Climate in the Pulpits in the fall. Visit their website to learn more about this church by clicking here.
