Joshua Cohen
Chesapeake Conservation Corps Member

A New Jersey native, Josh deep down has always felt a pull towards the outdoors, but truly came into this passion when he left home for college and discovered what was important to him. He graduated from Washington College in 2020 majoring in environmental science and minoring in Chesapeake regional studies and music. While Josh didn’t grow up around the Chesapeake Bay, it gave him some direction and showed him where he can do his part protecting the environment that God gave us. He’s been all around the bay (quite literally) traveling and learning all about it during his college years, as well as interning in the butterfly house at Ladew Topiary Gardens, where he discovered his budding, slow burning interest entomology. Post college, he worked with Americorps NCCC doing service work from Arizona all the way to New York. He also grew up Jewish, doing Jewish education through his synagogue throughout high school and being a part of the Jewish youth group NFTY. This year, he is working with IPC through Chesapeake Conservation Corps. Josh strongly believes that one of the key solutions to climate change in the coming years will be forming resilient communities in the face of it, and is excited to work with faith communities to achieve great things.
