Our guest speaker, Kathleen O'Toole an experienced writer, has worked as a community organizer, staff with Catholic Relief Services and most recently, Poet Laureate of Takoma Park. Regarding her poetry (recent collection is This Far) some of which we will be hearing, "the energy behind [her] poems is deeply meditative, and the natural world is O’Toole’s cathedral," says Sue Ellen Thomspon, author of The Golden Hour and winner of the 2010 Maryland Author Award.
She delights in sailing the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries with her husband. She has
found ways to combine an active public life in faith-based social change with writing and publishing poetry and she has been a Benedictine Oblate of Emmanuel Monastery, Baltimore MD since 2005.
We'll be enriched by Kathleen's organizing and writing experience!
