Join the One Water Partnership throughout the month of July as we gather to read and discuss Tom Horton's An Island Out of Time: A Memoir of Smith Island in the Chesapeake.
An Island Out of Time: A Memoir of Smith Island in the Chesapeake chronicles Horton's time living on Smith Island, a tightly-knit community with a strong culture based in life on the water. Through An Island Out of Time, we'll encounter the swells and seasons of the Chesapeake, as well as the hardships and triumphs of those who live on and work Chesapeake waters. At each meeting, book club members will explore the relationship between faith and natural events, life on the Chesapeake, and how proximity to natural features like the Chesapeake helps form one's relationship with them. Author Tom Horton will join the club for our final meeting on July 27th.
We'll be meeting virtually each Thursday in July from 7:00 - 8:00 PM on Zoom. Discussion questions will be sent out an hour before each meeting, as will an email reminder and the meeting's Zoom link. Please call (443) 926-4559 or email [email protected] with any questions or if you need assistance obtaining a copy of the book.
